Re: Better Business Bureau®

--------------------------------

The Better Business Bureau is a dumb organization that does not have a reason to exist. Convince me of otherwise.

Recently, when I was the General Manger of a hotel in California I dealt with Jessica and Mariam from the Fresno BBB office for a guest complaint that we had received. This was a terrible experience because the ladies did not know anything about the complaint that they were publishing on their website, and they had almost zero rebuttal to the points that I made while speaking on the phone with them.

1. They publicly post a complaint from a customer; TRUE or NOT without doing any sort of due diligence or verification about the situation.

2. American small businesses suffer with the help of the BBB and a disgruntled former customer.

3. MANY of the people who work at the BBB have never started a business, never worked in a small business, and do not have a college degree in business.... However, they make decisions at the Better Business Bureau. Ummm, ok?!

4. BBB employees waste the time of a business staff without any compensation to the business that they are trying to hurt, and the BBB causes harm for future business growth because they do not verify anything about the complaints that they receive.

The BBB claimed that our business did not respond to a complaint.
"Closed without response." <<< It's a LIE from the BBB.

When I challenged Jessica and Mariam about this LIE, they claimed that any information provided was voluntary on both ends. Meaning the end of the complainer and the end of the business. So, where does the BBB get involved? The BBB voluntarily takes the side of the complainer.

The BBB holds a small business hostage and acts as if they are some sort of official government agency. They're not. The BBB is nothing. A bunch of losers who cash an easy check, while hurting American businesses. They do not conduct any due diligence to figure out what is going on when a complaint is submitted.

The BBB sends unsolicited emails to the business asking for a response, and if you do not comply within a certain amount of days, the BBB will leave the complaint up on their website as if it were a true situation.

Why do they do this?

What do they have to gain?

From their website:

Better Business Bureau®

Start with Trust®

An ethical marketplace where buyers and sellers trust each other.

^^^^^^BBB has Trademarks?  Really?  For what?!? ^^^^^^
I really hope a government grant or other government funding did not pay for any of this junk.

The REAL BULLSH*T!!!! >> Accreditation

Sounds official, right?

Wow!!  I can have my business that I worked really hard to create, accredited by a group of losers who know nothing about business. Yaaayyy!!!!  -_-

READ the last line from below:
"Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation."

SO, if you have not even tried to be a part of the BBB, the BBB says that your business is NOT ACCREDITED. As a business man, this is where I give the BBB a loud "F" you!!

Oh, but if you pay their fee, you can be accredited....

Caution: Load of Crap follows.
--------------------------
If a business has been accredited by the BBB, it means BBB has determined that the business meets accreditation standards, which include a commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints. BBB accredited businesses pay a fee for accreditation review and monitoring for continued compliance and for support of BBB services to the public.
BBB Accreditation Standards represent standards for business accreditation by BBB. Businesses based in the United States and Canada that meet these standards and complete all application procedures will be accredited by BBB. The Code is built on the BBB Standards for Trust, eight principles that summarize important elements of creating and maintaining trust in business.
BBB accreditation does not mean that the business’s products or services have been evaluated or endorsed by BBB, or that BBB has made a determination as to the business’ product quality or competency in performing services.
Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation.

By the way, this blog is free advertising for the BBB. I'm sure they don't get mentioned in blogs very often.
